
VISCERALGINE™
Composition:
Each ampoule of 2ml of colorless solution contains Tiemonium methylsulphate 5 mg.
Each tablet contains Tiemonium methylsulphate 50 mg.
General Description:
Visceralgine crosses the blood brain barrier with more difficulty. With oral dose up to 200 mg per kg Tiemonium shows no significant central or peripheral anti- cholinergic activity.1/50th (or less) than that of Atropine. It inhibits only the extra physiologic spasms of smooth muscle but does not affect intestinal peristalsis.
Visceralgine very significantly decreases hyper motoricity of the recto sigmoid - rectal complex, which is the constipated patient with spastic colon tends to inhibit the transit of sigmoid contents towards the rectum. Thus it alleviates the spasm and prevents occurrence of symptoms
Visceralgine is a polyvalent antispasmodic of considerable interest both post-operatively and in certain visceral pain 91% of patients benefited from the treatment (72% good & very good results)
Post operatively Visceralgine action is rapid and effective both by IV & IM injection; it represents a good antispasmodic solution, above all in the genital field and in abdominal surgery.
Indication:
This drug is an antispasmodic: it reduces muscle spasm of the intestine, bilary system, bladder and uterus. This drug is indicated for the relief of pain in gastrointestinal and bilary diseases, and in urology and gynecology.
Contraindication:
This drug should not be used in the following cases:
• Glaucoma (acute pain of eyeball with vision disturbances)
• Difficulty to urinate (disorders of prostate or bladder)
Side Effect:
Like any other drugs this medication may have some undesirable side effects in certain individual; e.g. Risk of hypotension and tachycardia.
