ROXADEX
Composition:
Each ml aqueous solution contains:
5 mg of the glucocorticoid dexamethasone sodium phosphate USP
General Description:
Dexamethasone sodium phosphate is rapidly converted into dexamethasone. This is a sythetic glucocorticoid with a 7 times higher anti-inflammatory potency than prednisolone and 30 times that of the natural glucocorticoid, hydrocortisone. Like other glucocorticoids, dexamethasone has also anti-allergic, antitoxic, antishock, antipyretic and immunosuppressive properties. Dexamethasone has practically no water and salt-retaining properties; therefore particularly suitable for the use in patients with cardiac failure or hypertension.Because of the long biological half-life (36-54 hours), dexamethasone is especially suitable in conditions where continuous glucocorticoid action is desired.
