ALLYGEST™

Composition: Each uncoated tablet contains Allylestrenol INN 5 mg.

General Description:

Allygest™ which is a progestogen increases the availability of placental progesterone. Syncytiotrophoblast enzymatic activity becomes stimulated by the use of this drug. Allygest facilitates the production of endogenous and placental hormones, enzymes. Placental blood flow is increased by the use of this drug which enhances the action of foeto- placental unit. Thus Allygest™ ensures the safety in pregnancy and prevents the chances of threatened miscarriage, recurrent pregnancy loss and premature labor.

Indication:

• Threatened abortion

• Habitual abortion

• Threatened premature labour

• Intra uterine growth retardation

• Failure of implantation

Contraindication:

• Breast cancer, history of presence of nodules or abnormal mammogram

• Severe liver disease, hepatitis, hepatic cell tumors

• Undiagnosed vaginal bleeding

• Toxemia of pregnancy

• Crisis seizures

Side Effects:

• No major side effects have been reported

• Gastrointestinal complains like nausea, vomiting, epigastric discomfort may occur
