Composition
Each container of the powder for injection contains 50 and 100 IU recombinant follicle stimulating hormone (FSH).
General Description:
Follitropin beta belongs to a class of medications called gonadotropins. Follitropin beta contains a hormone similar to the human hormone called follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). In women, it is used when FSH levels are low or as part of assisted reproductive technology (ART) procedures such as in-vitro fertilization. Follitropin beta causes eggs to become mature and ready for release by the ovary. In men, follitropin beta helps increase sperm production.
Indication
- Anovulation including polycystic ovarian disease, POCD
- In vitro fertilization/embryo transfer (IVF/ET)
- Gamete intra-fallopian transfer (GIFT)
Contraindication
- Allergic to follitropin beta or to any of the ingredients of the medication
- Pregnant or breast-feeding mother
- Women having heavy or irregular vaginal bleeding of unknown cause
- Women who have ovarian cysts or enlargement not due to polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOD)
- Persons having tumors of the ovary, breast, uterus, hypothalamus, or pituitary gland
- People having uncontrolled thyroid or adrenal dysfunction
Side Effects
- Dry skin fatigue hair loss
- Pain, redness, or irritation at the place of injection (temporary)
