Linda-S DS is synthetically prepared Oxytocin, which is identical to the natural occurring hormone from the posterior pituitary gland. Oxytocin stimulates both the frequency and force of contraction in uterine smooth muscle, leading to dilatation and effacement of cervix.


What is Linda-S DS and what is it used for?

Synthetic Oxytocin (Linda-S DS) is a hormone, used to treat bacterial infection.

Before you take Linda-S DS, Do not take this medicine and tell your doctor if

you are allergic to any ingredient of oxytocin.

Take special care while taking Linda-S DS

If anyone have

  • genital herpes;
  • diabetes;
  • high blood pressure;
  • a heart rhythm disorder;
  • a history of cervical cancer;
  • a history of severe infection in your uterus;
  • a history of difficult labor because you have a small pelvis;
  • if you have ever had surgery on your cervix or uterus (including a prior C-section);
  • if your pregnancy is less than 37 weeks; or
  • if you have had 5 or more pregnancies.

Also tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.

How and when to take Linda-S DS

Oxytocin is a hormone used to help start or continue labor and to control bleeding after delivery. It is also sometimes used to help milk secretion in breast-feeding. It should be taken IV or IM as per requirement

If you forget to take Linda-S DS

Because you will receive oxytocin in a clinical setting, you are not likely to miss a dose.

If you stop taking Linda-S DS

To fasten & smooth induction & augmentation of labor, avoid Postpartum Hemmorrhage, synthetic oxytocin is required.


Your body adjusts to having oxycodone in your system after taking Oxytocin for extended periods of time. Once you stop taking Oxytocin, you go into withdrawal from oxycodone because your body is not used to functioning normally without it. This causes withdrawal symptoms – which happen whether you have just a physical dependence on Oxytocin or if you are addicted to it.

Possible side effects

Common side effects may include:

  • nausea, vomiting;
  • runny nose, sinus pain or irritation;
  • memory problems; or

more intense or more frequent contractions (this is an expected effect of oxytocin
